Superdrug is set to launch 30 fresh stores in the upcoming year, leading to the creation of approximately 600 job opportunities. The new store locations in England will include White Rose Leeds, Crawley, Waterlooville Retail Park, Newport Retail Park, and Isle of Wight.
Superdrug is also expanding its presence in Scotland with new stores in Dundee Gallagher Retail Park, Kilmarnock Retail Park, East Kilbride, Strathkelvin Retail Park, Linwood Phoenix Retail Park, and Cwmbran Retail Park in Wales. These new stores will feature Superdrug Beauty Studios offering services like ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading.
Additionally, Superdrug aims to renovate 60 stores throughout the year. The renowned health and beauty retailer currently operates over 780 stores in the UK and Ireland. The decision to open more stores is driven by the high demand experienced by Superdrug in its existing stores.
Clare Jennings, Superdrug’s property director, emphasized the company’s commitment to physical retail experiences. The upcoming store openings focus on creating comprehensive beauty and healthcare destinations within local communities. This strategic investment not only enhances Superdrug’s footprint but also provides quality services and products in welcoming environments.
In other retail news, M&S disclosed plans to target 500 new store locations to expand its food business. The company is seeking larger sites to accommodate a wider range of M&S Food products, with the goal of doubling the size of its food business. M&S is actively opening and revitalizing stores, aiming to increase the average size of its Food stores to 18,000 square feet to attract more customers and enhance the shopping experience.
