The Formula 1 season has recently commenced with George Russell clinching a win in Melbourne. This year, the racing calendar will span across various global locations, offering an exciting experience for fans. Sky has announced a significant enhancement for its customers, introducing new features to elevate the viewing experience of live sports events.
The upcoming update will revolutionize the way viewers engage with the races. Sky will introduce a smart sidebar on screens during race weekends, providing interactive tools such as Race Control and Recap for quick replays of thrilling moments. Additionally, fans can easily access live in-race standings. The update also includes dedicated pages for drivers and teams, offering onboard cameras, enhanced race data, and improved navigation on the homepage.
To access these new features, Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices will receive them for free. Although an exact launch date has not been confirmed yet, the upgrade is anticipated to be rolled out later in the season at no extra cost to existing Sky Sports subscribers.
In a move to provide more value to Formula 1 enthusiasts, Sky offers an introductory deal that includes live coverage of every practice, qualifier, and race with the Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, saving subscribers £336. This package not only grants access to Sky Sports but also includes approximately 100 TV channels and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.
Sky’s statement to Express.co.uk highlighted the introduction of a new immersive sidebar for TV viewing during race weekends, promising fans increased flexibility and choice for the 2026 season. Apart from the F1 upgrade, Sky has unveiled the Ultimate TV subscription plan, offering a bundled package of major streaming services at a reduced monthly rate.
Priced at £24 per month, the Ultimate TV plan grants access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max app in the UK. Sky emphasizes the value of this bundle, consolidating around £20 worth of streaming services into a single package.
Included in the £24 Ultimate TV plan are Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads (from March), HBO Max Basic with Ads (from March 26), Hayu (available from July, with select shows accessible from March), and over 130 Sky channels. This comprehensive package aims to cater to a wide range of entertainment needs for both new and existing customers.
