“Grieving Family Fundraises for Asthma Awareness”

The family of a young girl who tragically passed away in a parking lot on the eve of her ninth birthday has issued a heartfelt statement. Olivia Grace Edwards, aged eight, fell ill in an Aberdeen car park on October 25 and was swiftly taken to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. Her grieving parents, Mark, 40, and Georgina, 33, disclosed that Olivia had suffered a severe asthma attack. Mark expressed his belief that with better support post Olivia’s asthma diagnosis, their family might have faced a different outcome. To aid the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, the family has initiated a fundraiser.

Mark shared, “In October 2025, we lost our precious Olivia Grace to a sudden asthma attack. If we had received adequate support and guidance since Olivia’s asthma diagnosis, our reality might have been altered. We are backing the Asthma and Allergy Foundation to advocate for more accessible resources for families managing asthma.” Mark and Georgina will participate in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk’s ‘Wee Wander’ on June 7, as reported by the Daily Record, with all proceeds aiding the foundation. Reflecting on Olivia, who was described as “beautiful” and “joyful” by acquaintances, Mark stated, “We are joining the ‘Wee Wander’ in Olivia’s memory to raise funds for this cause. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!”

A message conveyed, “In October 2025, Mark and Georgina lost their beloved Olivia Grace to a severe asthma attack. Their lives changed irrevocably in an instant, and their bravery in narrating her story to safeguard other families is commendable. They believe that receiving proper support from Olivia’s asthma diagnosis could have altered the outcome significantly. Amidst their profound sorrow, Mark and Georgina have chosen to honor Olivia’s legacy by supporting a cause that benefits children and families confronting respiratory and allergy-related challenges.

“They are fundraising for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation (AAF) to facilitate essential education, support, and emergency response initiatives for families grappling with asthma and severe allergies. Their resolve is to prevent other parents from enduring a similar journey. Their empathy, even amidst immeasurable anguish, is truly remarkable.”
