Man Found in River Soar Near Leicester School Dies

A man has tragically passed away in a hospital after being rescued from the River Soar near a secondary school in Leicester. Despite immediate medical attention, the man could not be revived and was declared deceased a few hours later. Law enforcement officials and a forensic team were observed at the scene near the secondary school.

Items, including wet clothing, were collected by investigators and taken away, while the cordoned-off area at Richard III Road, close to Castle Mead Academy, was eventually reopened. Police later confirmed the death of the man who was retrieved from the river earlier that evening.

According to a statement provided to LeicestershireLive, officers responded to the incident on Richard III Road following the man’s recovery by the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service from the River Soar. The man was subsequently transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have stated that the death is not considered suspicious, and necessary procedures are underway for the coroner’s review and identification.

During the investigation, two police vehicles were stationed at the site with a cordon in place to secure the area and prevent public access. Various items, including wet clothes and a possible paramedic blanket, were visible within the cordon, as officers conducted their inquiries.
